Red Velvet Dough:
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups flour, sifted
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 4 ounces cream cheese spread
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- Valentine’s sprinkles (optional)
In a stand mixer with the dough hook whisk the red velvet cake mix, yeast and flour. Add warm water and turn mixer on for 2-3 minutes at medium speed. Spray a large bowl with Pam and place dough inside. Cover and let rise somewhere warm for 1 hour.
Meanwhile make the filling. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and then mix with melted butter.
After the dough has risen place on a floured surface and roll out 1/4” thick. Spread filling over evenly. Roll dough into a log. Using a sharp knife cut into even pieces and place in greased baking dish. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise one more hour.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Make the topping by beating the cream cheese and butter together. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread over warm cinnamon rolls. Top with sprinkles.
