- 3 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 cup hot water
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in mixing bowl. Heat water in microwave for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. Slice the stick of butter and put in hot water. Once the butter completely melts in the water, pour into dry mixture. Knead mixture into a big ball and cover for 15 minutes. (I used my stand mixer with a dough hook).
After 15 minutes, take pieces of the dough and make them into balls a little bigger than a golf ball. This will make 12 tortillas. Once they are rolled into balls place them all back into the bowl and cover for 15 more minutes. Roll balls out on flour covered counter to make into tortillas.
Heat a cast iron on low-medium heat. Let heat completely before adding your first tortilla. Place into skillet one by one. When you see the tortilla begin to bubble that’s when you know to flip it. Once your heat is right this will take about 30 seconds per side.
*Recipe from my cousin Levi Madden. When Levi is in our office our conversation immediately goes to food. I love that he is a foodie like me! These are absolutely amazing, and I kind of hate I know how to make these now. They’re also DELICIOUS with butter, honey and a little bit of cinnamon.
