Ingredients:
- 1 rounded cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 eggs
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Nilla Wafers
- Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, roughly chopped
- Extra Creamy Cool Whip
Directions
In a heavy sauce pan whisk the sugar and cornstarch. Add the eggs and ½ cup of the milk. Whisk. Add the rest of the milk. Add the butter. Place over stove top and heat to medium heat. Stir often so the bottom does not scorch. Keep stirring until it thickens. It will thicken right before it boils. Once thickened remove from heat and add the vanilla. Let cool completely.
In the bottom of your serving bowl add Nilla Wafers and 2-3 chopped tree cakes. Place cooled pudding on top. Top with Cool Whip and more chopped tree cakes.
This Christmas Tree Cake Custard is my personal new favorite creation of Christmas season 2023! I took my grandfather's homemade vanilla custard recipe and added Nilla Wafers and chopped up Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, topped with extra creamy Cool Whip and promptly patted myself on the back. I have made this twice now in December and am here to guarantee it is a HIT!
